If your children play in Willow or Pine Brook Parks, if you walk your dog through the streets of Larchmont, or take a moment to sit on the benches in Kane Park, you are already familiar with some of the activities that Parks and Trees Committee volunteers undertake each year. We help Larchmont maintain its status as a “Tree City,” which it has held for more than three decades.
Admiring the new trees on the Boston Post Road? Those are some of the street trees we plant annually to improve and sustain Larchmont’s tree canopy. You can be involved in identifying locations for street trees throughout the Village.
That new playground equipment in Woodbine/Willow Park and Pine Brook Park? Those changes were the result of partnerships between the Committee and neighborhood residents to improve the parks. You can be involved in future efforts to ensure that our parks are great spaces for everyone who uses them.
The Japanese maple with the bright red bark next to the Children’s Library entrance? That was planted during one of our annual Arbor Day celebrations. The children planted that tree as one of the educational events we’ve offered. You can be involved in helping our community learn more about its trees.
